The Growing Tree
Week 02.20.12
Infant 1
Pets is the theme for the week. Parents will be asked to bring in pictures of pets and they will be displayed on the wall and teachers will talk to the babies about what kind of animals they are and what sounds they make. Teachers will play peek-a-boo with the Peek-A-Boo Kitty book. Children will play with plastic toy animals that squeak.
Infant 2
The theme for the week is Sheep. Children will be introduced to the theme by looking at pictures of sheep with their friends. Children will make hand lamb prints with cotton balls, pretend to be lambs by crawling on all fours, sort yarn and cotton balls inside the container, and sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep".
Toddler 1
Children will be introduced to the theme teeth by having each child look at their teeth in the mirror. During circle time, children will sing "This is the way we brush our teeth". Children will create a toothbrush painting, a sparkly smile puppet, and with the help of the teachers a collage of unhealthy and healthy foods for the teeth.
Toddler 2
Children will be introduced to the theme Dental Health by creating artwork to include: tooth puppet, paint a toothbrush, and color a picture of a dentist. Children will be able to count toothbrushes, teeth, and do the Hokey Tooth Pokey.
Twos
Dental Care is the theme for the week. Children will have discussions on why we go to the dentist, things we see at the dentist office, dental exams, and pretend to be a dentist. Children will create a dental floss painting, tooth brush art, paper plate mouth, and draw a picture of themselves with a healthy smile. Special snack for Friday is "Say Cheese".
Threes
Once again... Dental Health it is... Children will be introduced to the theme by discussing a "Shining Smile", "Keeping Teeth Bright and Healthy", and reading "A Visit to the Dentist". Children will create a paper plate mouth, happy teeth, dental health craft, smile collage, and color a picture of a tooth fairy.
Prek
Children will be introduced to the theme Five Senses by creating an ear craft, seeking what object is missing, and tasting sweet or sour foods. Children will also read books on sense of sounds, sight, smell, taste, and touch.
Afterschoolers
Last time... Dental Health is the theme. Children will learn why good dental habits are important, parts of a tooth, and foods that affect the teeth (good/bad).
