Wilson Medical Center provides the highest quality of health care for the people of Wilson County and neighboring communities. In addition, we sponsor events throughout the year such as: American Heart Association Annual Heart Walk;
American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and the United Way. We are dedicated to the community and are continuously working to keep our community healthy. Healing you when you're sick and keeping you well when you're healthy and teaching you how to live happier, healthier lives. In keeping with our commitment to the community we participate in many activities throughout the year. Such activities available to the community include wellness programs, community education programs and classes and a broad range of support through many more community service events and activities. Such activities include:
Silver Service
A health education program started in 1998 as a way to serve people age 55+ offering lifetime memberships for $5.00. This program promotes good health and healthy living from educational classes and screenings to medical discounts and assistance in understanding insurance forms.
Dr. Talks
A monthly series of informal medical forums for better health co-sponsored by Wilson Medical Center and WilMed Healthcare Foundation. The forum is free and open to the community.
Athlete Screenings
Wilson Medical Center staff and physicians voluntarily work together to provide free athlete screenings for all potential middle and high school athletes in Wilson County.
Walking Track
Maintaining a quarter-mile walking track on the grounds of the medical center helps to promote physical fitness. The track is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and serves diverse groups of all ages. Playground equipment is available to children of adults who are walking. An information board is on display at the track to further the promotion of health, safety and fitness. Programs are held at the track throughout the year offering educational information.
Chapel
On-site chapel facilities are available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as part of the hospital's commitment to spiritual healing. Services are available through a partnership between the hospital's pastoral care department and a group of volunteer ministers.
Blood Drives
We host six voluntary blood drives throughout the year for the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
Bell-Pittman Library Resource Center
Offers up-to-date health information to the public as seen posted throughout the medical center on information boards. The library offers health information brochures, reference books, periodicals and pamphlets.
Vim & Vigor
A quarterly health magazine for families is sent to 22,500 community members.
